Are you ready for Week 3 of the college football season? It’s crazy that we’re already looking at our third weekend slate of games, and the first one that jumps out to us is tonight when Memphis (2-0) hosts Navy (1-1). After a rough outing with Notre Dame to start the season, Navy found success last weekend against an overwhelmed Wagnor Seahawks team. The result was a 24-0 victory for the Midshipmen and a much needed moral booster as they take the road to face a Memphis squad that is only allowing it’s opponents to score an average of 8.5 points per game. This will be a good American Conference opener for both squads.

Why We’re Taking Memphis At -13.5
This game is all about the Memphis defense for me. Even with the offensive success Navy had in Week 2, the Midshipmen are only averaging 288.5 total yards per game through the first two weeks. Meanwhile, the Tigers are surrendering an average of just 160.5 yards per game on defense, and are scoring at a pace of 46.5 points per game. I don’t think this will be a crazy blowout or anything but I do expect Memphis to win comfortably.
Why We’re Taking Memphis On The Moneyline
Well…there’s all the reasons that I mentioned above for starters. Navy is 1-1 on the season but they’re being outscored by their opponents by an average of 21-13.5. They’ll be facing a Memphis squad that really hasn’t been challenged yet, but the Tigers certainly check off all the right boxes in terms of offensive and defensive expectations.
Why We’re Taking The Over
The offensive woes Navy has faced to start the season was coupled with the defensive success Memphis has experienced was factored in to this line. I think it’s slightly off because the Tigers have yet to be tested by anyone above the FCS level. There are likely to be some adjustments made by the Memphis defense, and I’m expecting at least a couple of Navy scores.
