Series History
This is the first meeting of the season between the Thunder and the Celtics. Last season, the Thunder went 1-1 against the Celtics (1-0 at home, 0-1 on the road).
Why the Thunder Will Cover (+3)
This may seem like a homer pick, but the fact of the matter is that these are arguably the two hottest teams in the NBA right now. The Celtics are on a 6-game win streak and winners of 12 of the last 13 with the one loss on the road against the Golden State Warriors in overtime. The Thunder is on a 4-game win streak and winners of 7 of the last 8 with two wins in Denver against the Nuggets and home wins against the Clippers, Lakers, Timberwolves, and the Knicks. OKC gets the edge from me because they’re playing in front of the home crowd.
Why the Game Will NOT Hit the Over (240)
As good as both of these offenses are—both are top 6 in offensive rating—they’re both really good on defense—both are top 3 in defensive rating. I think both teams are going to score close to their averages, which would put the total at 239, but defense is going to have to win out in the end of this slugfest. I’m taking the under on the point total.
