Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #73 Preview: Boston Celtics

The Oklahoma City Thunder wraps up its 5-game East Coast road trip on Wednesday night as they put a 12-game win streak on the line against the Boston Celtics. OKC is finally at full strength, and it could not come at a better time as they wrap up the last stretch of the season.

Thunder Against the Spread | OKC Takes on Celtics in Boston as Favorite

Boston relies heavily on knocking down shots from three, and when they miss, rebounding the ball for a second-chance opportunity. As good as OKC’s defense is, the Thunder ranks near the bottom in opponent three-point percentage. Now that OKC is completely healthy, I think they have the depth to run Boston off the line, force the Celtics into a few more turnovers than normal, and win this game by enough to cover the spread.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will try his hand at making history on Thursday night as the Oklahoma City Thunder host the Boston Celtics. SGA has scored 20+ points in 126 consecutive games, which ties him with Wilt Chamberlain, and barring some sort of disaster, he should be able to move into first.

Thunder Against the Spread | SGA Looks to Break Wilt’s Record At Home as OKC is Favored Over Boston

While OKC is not quite fully healthy, they take a good step forward tonight with Chet Holmgren and Alex Caruso both available. That alone gives them even more of an edge over the Celtics, who have some question marks on their injury report. Regardless of who Boston plays, OKC is getting SOMETHING from multiple SOMEONES pretty much every night. I think the Thunder elevates tonight in front of a national audience in a big game in which Shai Gilgeous-Alexander should break Wilt Chamberlain’s record of consecutive games with 20+ points. I like OKC to cover.

Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #66 Preview: Boston Celtics

The Oklahoma City Thunder starts a tough road trip on Wednesday night, featuring three games against top-6 teams in the Eastern Conference in just a 4-day span. The Thunder take on the Boston Celtics at TD Garden to kick things off as OKC looks to get back on track after suffering a 140-127 loss on Monday night.

Thunder Against the Spread | OKC a Rare Underdog Against Celtics in Boston

This is a tough game to pick because there are several variables up in the air. We know for sure that Jalen Williams is out for OKC, but Boston could be with or without any combination of 3 of their starters (Jaylen Brown, Kristaps Porzingis, and Jayson Tatum). Regardless of who plays, though, the Thunder is so far ahead in the West that it would seem they might let off the gas. At the same time, they need to head into the postseason with some momentum. With JDub out due to a strained hip, I can see Shai Gilgeous-Alexander going for another 50-piece, so I’m taking OKC to cover and get a win in Boston for the first time in almost 4 years.

Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #35 Preview: Boston Celtics

Friday’s game in OKC between the Thunder and the Knicks was considered by many to be the game of the year due to the win streaks that both teams entered the game with, and it lived up to the hype, but today’s meeting might be even better as OKC hosts the Boston Celtics. OKC is sitting comfortably atop the Western Conference standings—a full 7 games ahead of the Houston Rockets and the Memphis Grizzlies. Meanwhile, Boston is is in 2nd in the East, 4.5 games behind the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Thunder Against the Spread | OKC Barely Favored at Home Against Celtics

OKC continues to win games in improbable ways, and if they don’t get off to a good start today, it might catch up with them. The NBA Champions of last year are no pushover, but I think the Thunder might be just a little bit deeper, even with the injuries. I expect this one to be decided late, possibly on the final possession of the game, but I’m taking the Thunder to cover and continue their win streak.

Thunder Against the Spread | No Shai + No Dub = Thunder Double-Digit Underdog in Boston

OKC has not been an underdog often this season, and not by more than 6.5 points. Missing your two best scorers while playing a healthy version of the NBA’s best record will do that, though. OKC is good enough to keep it to within single digits, but this one definitely could get out of hand. I’m taking the Thunder to cover, though.

Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #32 Preview: Boston Celtics

OKC kicks off 2024 with a big interconference showdown as they host the East’s top team in the Boston Celtics. The Celtics are winners of 6 straight and 12 of their last 13 as they sit at 26-6 on the season. Led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, Boston is a team that has been on the cusp of an NBA championship for a few seasons now, and they seem poised as ever to see that goal achieved.
