Transfers Who Could Immediately Impact Oklahoma’s Offense In 2024 | Offensive Tackle Spencer Brown

The Sooners have added twelve players to its roster since the transfer portal opened on November 27th. Nine of those will play on the offensive side of the ball, as Seth Littrell and Joe Jon Finley look to reload ahead of Oklahoma’s first run through the S.E.C. in 2024. The first player to commit to the Sooners was offensive lineman Spencer Brown.

The former Michigan State standout had 24 starts with the Spartans. A 6-6/315 offensive tackle, Brown chose Oklahoma over USC, Ole Miss, and several others who were trying to lure him out of the portal. Now that he’s in Norman, he has a chance to be a Day 1 starter, on the right side, as Bill Bedenbaugh rebuilds his offensive line.

Coming out of high school he was ranked as the No. 40 offensive tackle in the 2019 class, per the 247Sports Composite ratings. Rated as a 3-star recruit had 27 scholarship offers. The Commerce Township, MI native ultimately ended up choosing Michigan State over Michigan.

In total, Brown has played in 33 career games at Michigan State. He went through a redshirt in 2019, played sparingly in 2020, and then became a mainstay on the offensive line in 2021. He’ll use his final season of eligibility at Oklahoma where Bedenbaugh will work his magic of fine tuning his aggressive style of play into a prospect that NFL scouts will certainly take note of.

According to Pro Football Focus, Brown had allowed three sacks this season across 312 pass blocking snaps. Also according to PFF, Brown played a total of 541 offensive snaps during the 2023 season. His primary competition for the right tackle spot seems to be Heath Ozaeta, a three-star prospect from Snoqualmie, WA. He was the No. 7 overall prospect from the state of Washington in the 2023 recruiting class.
