Series History
The Thunder is 0-1 against the Rockets so far this season (0-0 at home, 0-1 on the road).
Why the Thunder Will Cover (-6.5)
The Rockets defeated the Thunder in a defensive meeting back in early December. The two teams have gone pretty different directions since then, and a major result for OKC’s success over the last couple of month’s has been the rapid development of guys not named Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren are both capable of being a quality #2 on any given, and OKC’s bench is about as deep as they come. With the way the Thunder has been playing lately, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were able to defeat the Rockets by double digits. On the other hand, OKC has struggled on the road lately, but this is the first road game since the return from the All-Star Break, so it’s a good opportunity to change that.
Why the Game Will Hit the Over (233.5)
As defense-heavy as Houston is, the Thunder is a well-rounded team on both ends of the floor. OKC’s offense is one of the most lethal in the league, and they’re rarely not scoring in bunches. The only way this doesn’t hit the over on the point total is if the Rockets manage to slow the game way down and turn it into another defensive battle. I just don’t think Houston can do that this time, so I’m taking the over on the point total.
