Team Sooner dominated Team Boomer 13-5 in Game Two of the Oklahoma Battle Series on Wednesday night. Once again, Patty Gasso showcased her team’s depth and talent, as several players contributed to the offensive outburst. The Sooners split up into two squads, Team Boomer and Team Sooner, with all 21 players split between the two teams. Considering the Sooners have 13 new players on the squad heading into the 2025 season, the fall schedule give Gasso an opportunity to see where her squad is in terms of chemistry and competitive depth, while fans get an early glimpse at a team that will be competing for its first ever SEC championship.
Ella Parker demonstrated her versatility by both hitting a three-run home run and pitching a scoreless inning. Tia Milloy, a freshman, impressed at the plate, going 4-of-6 with four runs scored. Her speed and ability to take extra bases are going to be a valuable asset for this team in the future.
“I was really having fun watching Tia Milloy tonight,” Gasso said after the game. “I liked her in the leadup and she just moves. She really does. It’s gonna be really, I hope you would think, very fun to watch this team as we start to figure ourselves out of it.”
Team Sooner exploded in the first inning, scoring six runs to take control of the game. Maya Bland, another key player, made several impressive defensive plays, showcasing her range and arm strength with two strong throws to the plate, nearly cutting down a runner at the plate on a deep sacrifice fly and then again on a single to right field later on in the game. After primarily serving as a pinch runner last season, Bland is showing that she’s going to be capable of so much more in 2025.
Veterans like Cydney Sanders and Abigale Dayton also made significant contributions to Team Sooner’s victory. Their experience and leadership were evident throughout the game.
The Sooners hit four home runs tonight. Those came from Ella Parker, Kasidi Pickering, Cydney Sanders and Isabella Emerling.

Sam Landry, a transfer from Louisiana, pitched a strong game for Team Sooner, allowing just three hits and no runs in four innings. Her performance showcased her potential as a key contributor to the pitching staff. She was the first pitcher in the circle and threw more innings than any Sooner.
