For the first time this fall, Oklahoma Softball stepped away from the intrasquad scrimmage format and faced an opponent who didn’t actually share the same locker room. The result? Complete domination for the reigning four-time national champions.
We’ve already documented how different this team will be from last season’s squad, but the results are still pretty overwhelming for Oklahoma’s opponents. Patty Gasso’s Sooners are still doing what they’ve always done. They dominate from the circle, they plat stingy defense, and they send the ball out of the park from the batter’s box.
In Wednesday’s 19-0 thrashing of Texas A&M-Commerce (a 10-inning game), Ella Parker homered twice Wednesday added an RBI single. In the seventh inning, after the first two Oklahoma batters were put out, Parker delivered her second long ball of the night, a towering solo shot to left. That was followed by two more dingers as Nelly McEnroe-Marinas sent a homer to left and then Maya Bland took a shot out to right.

The Sooners also showed off the rebuilt pitching staff against A&M-Commerce. Louisiana transfer Sam Landry and freshman Audrey Lowry took on most of the work load, with Ella Parker and Kierston Deal also seeing a little time in the circle.
Landry and Lowry were efficient, limiting the Lions to just two hits. Deal finished off the night with three scoreless innings, and Parker Parker entered in the bottom of the fourth with one out, getting a bouncer right back her way for an out. It was the only batter she faced on the evening.
