The Oklahoma vs. Texas rivalry is one of the most storied rivalries in college football, with a rich history dating back for more than a century. One notable connection is Casey Thompson, a former Texas quarterback who also took tours at Nebraska and Florida Atlantic before transferring to Oklahoma for the 2024 season. Thompson started 10 games for Texas in 2021, including the matchup against Oklahoma, which the Sooners won 55-48. Darrell Royal, a legendary figure in Texas football history, also has a connection to Oklahoma. Royal played for the Sooners in the late 1940s and earned All-America honors as a senior. He later went on to coach at Texas, leading the Longhorns to three national championships. Yes. The Texas football stadium is, in fact, named after an Oklahoma Football All-American.
