The chaos of Week 6 certainly bled over into our power rankings. Texas jumps back into the top spot this week, but it isn’t unanimous. In fact, the only teams we were unanimous on were Mississippi State at #16 and, ironically, Florida at #14. We were really close to unanimity on the Longhorns, as well as Tennessee, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Auburn, and Vanderbilt. However, in each occasion one of our writers found reason to offer a different ranking than the other three.
We’ve got a tie at numbers 6 and 12 this week. In all there are fourteen of the sixteen teams in a different spot than they were a week ago. Make sure to check out our individual rankings below to try and make some reason from this madness.

Individual Rankings
Caleb
1. Texas | Texas has looked good this season. With the RRR coming up the Longhorns look to flex their number 1 status in Dallas.
2. Alabama | I know Alabama is coming off a loss, but I still think very highly of this team. They found themselves in a trap game and just didn’t look the part coming off a big win against Georgia.
3. Georgia | Georgia bounces back after a tough Alabama win with a win over Auburn. Carson Beck did a way better job at protecting the football this week.

15. Auburn | Auburn started their long road streak off with a loss, although they did not play terribly they couldn’t find the win.
16. Mississippi State | Mississippi State had the week off. With going to Georgia next week they bye week came at a good time. Maybe with 2 weeks to prepare Jeff Lebby can find a way not to be blown out.
Craig
1. Texas | Texas moves up to the top spot during a bye week. The Longhorns are the only remaining undefeated team in the SEC.
2. Texas A&M | The Aggies are slowly moving up and proving to be real contenders in this conference. They absolutely dominated Missouri and looked like one of the best teams in the country while doing it.
3. Georgia | Georgia bounced back from their close loss to Alabama with a big win over Auburn. I expect the Dawgs to get the ball rolling again.

15. Auburn | The Tigers are severely lacking QB play. It’s going to be hard for them to get anything going on offense this season.

Matt
1. Georgia | Their performance against Auburn was solid but hardly dominant, again raising questions about whether this team is as strong as Kirby Smart’s squads of the last three seasons.
2. Texas | The Longhorns are very close to me putting them at #1. The only reason I didn’t is because they were on a bye last weekend. They’ve got Oklahoma on Saturday and then a huge matchup against Georgia after that.
3. Texas A&M | Missouri had no answer for Texas A&M’s potent running game and failed to get anything going offensively until it was too late.

15. South Carolina | Things won’t get easier for the Gamecocks, who follow up last Saturday’s Ole Miss loss with trips to No. 1 Alabama and No. 19 Oklahoma before closing October at home against No. 25 Texas A&M.
16. Mississippi State | The bye week was probably a welcome relief.
Zack
1. Texas | I can’t penalize the Longhorns for a bye week. We’ll see if they used the extra time wisely to prepare for OU in the Red River Rivalry.
2. Georgia | The Bulldogs started off slowly against Auburn, but they played a methodical game to win big. They’re still very much a threat to win the SEC, but they need to figure out how to play better ball from the starting kickoff.
3. Ole Miss | I know they dropped a tough loss to Kentucky a couple weekends ago, but they bounced back against a solid South Carolina squad. We’ll see how real they are when they hit the road this weekend to take on LSU.
