Official Game Notes

The Oklahoma State Cowboys have lost five consecutive games for the first time in Mike Gundy’s tenure in Stillwater, but they are looking to change that on Homecoming as they host the Arizona State Sun Devils. The game has been moved up to a 2:30 PM kickoff due to potential severe weather, but rest assured that no weather issues will be able to squelch the excitement surrounding America’s Greatest Homecoming.

Arizona State enters Stillwater with a 5-2 record, but the Sun Devils have yet to notch a win against a team that currently holds a winning record, and the two losses come from teams with current records of 5-3 each, so perhaps their record is a bit inflated. Regardless of wins and losses up to this point, Oklahoma State is on the brink of missing out on a bowl game for the first time since 2005, Gundy’s first year in Stillwater, when the Cowboys went 4-7.

How the Cowboys Win

Oklahoma State’s offense has looked much better the last couple of weeks, but unfortunately, the defense continues to give up big plays. If the Cowboys want to end their losing streak, they’re going to need to get some stops on defense, which means they probably need to win the turnover battle and possibly even get a defensive touchdown.

How the Sun Devils Win

Arizona State can win this one by keeping Ollie Gordon II out of the game. The Cowboys are going to throw the ball a lot, as is their M.O., but if the Sun Devils can slow Oklahoma State’s run game, then they could possibly roll to an easy win.
