The Oklahoma State Cowboys have lost 7 straight games, and they are officially out of bowl contention. By some standards, there’s not much reason to play, but I would hope that Mike Gundy and Co. have enough pride to know you play the game for much more than just a bowl game. With two games remaining on the season, perhaps Oklahoma State can put some things together in order to finish the season on a high note…or a not-so-low note at the least.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys have lost five consecutive games for the first time in Mike Gundy’s tenure in Stillwater, but they are looking to change that on Homecoming as they host the Arizona State Sun Devils. The game has been moved up to a 2:30 PM kickoff due to potential severe weather, but rest assured that no weather issues will be able to squelch the excitement surrounding America’s Greatest Homecoming.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys have now lost three consecutive games, and at this point, it’s hard to see a win in sight. After dropping 22-19 decision at home to Utah, the Cowboys were embarrassed 42-20 on the road against Kansas State, only to turn around and get blasted 38-14 by West Virginia in front of the home crowd in Stillwater. Now the Cowboys must travel to Provo, Utah, to take on the BYU Cougars.

The 16th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys trailed the Arkansas Razorbacks 14-0 after the first quarter, and it looked like it was about to get worse. Arkansas was driving down the field well into Cowboy territory, likely headed towards another touchdown, before Kale Smith picked off a Taylen Green pass and returned it for a touchdown. The score put Oklahoma State within striking territory, but the Razorbacks put another touchdown on the board before halftime, and all of a sudden, the Cowboys were trailing 21-7 headed into the break.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys kicked off their season on Saturday with a 44-20 victory over the reigning back-to-back FCS National Champion South Dakota State Jack Rabbits. Alan Bowman completed 25-of-34 passes for 267 yards and 3 touchdowns, and Ollie Gordon amassed 156 all-purpose yards for 3 total touchdowns.

The Cowboys developed quite the reputation in 2021 for their defense, a rarity not just in Stillwater but in the Big 12 as a whole. The offense struggled at times, especially early in the season, so there are a few keys they need to focus on from the jump in order to start this season off right.

First things first: we need to give credit where credit is due. Cowboy quarterback Spencer Sanders had one of the best games of his career and by far his best game of the season. Oklahoma State relied heavily on the run early, and Sanders played a key role that in that by using his feet to help the Cowboy down the field, but his first pass of the day was a 5-yard completion to Brennan Presley for a touchdown.
