Oklahoma freshman designated hitter Drew Dickerson has been named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week following a breakout performance that helped propel the No. 14 Sooners to a perfect 4-0 stretch, the league office announced Monday.
The Lee’s Summit, Missouri native played a pivotal role in OU’s road dominance last week, starting with a rivalry win over Oklahoma State in Stillwater and continuing through a three-game SEC sweep at Missouri. Dickerson was a force at the plate, going 7-for-14 (.500) with five RBIs, three extra-base hits—including his second collegiate home run—and seven runs scored. He also drew three walks to post a staggering .588 on-base percentage for the week.
Dickerson set multiple personal bests in the series against Missouri, including back-to-back three-hit performances in the first two games. In Saturday’s game two, he notched career highs in both RBIs (3) and runs scored (3), sparking the Sooners to one of their most complete offensive showings of the season.
Through 23 games (12 starts), Dickerson is now batting .314 with seven extra-base hits and 12 RBIs. His consistency and production have provided a major boost to a deep Oklahoma lineup still hitting its stride as the SEC gauntlet continues.
He shares this week’s freshman honor with Florida’s Brendan Lawson. It marks the first career weekly SEC award for Dickerson and the third overall for the Sooners in 2025. Junior right-hander Kyson Witherspoon has twice been recognized as SEC Pitcher of the Week this season.
Oklahoma (29-10, 10-8 SEC) returns to the diamond Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. CT when they host in-state foe Oral Roberts at L. Dale Mitchell Park. The game will stream live on SECN+ and air on 99.3 FM/1400 AM The REF, with nationwide coverage available via The Varsity Network app.
