There are football recruiting visits, and then there is Oklahoma’s ChampU BBQ.
What began as a creative recruiting event nearly a decade ago has evolved into the Sooners’ most important weekend of the summer and one of the premier recruiting showcases in college football. With the 2026 edition taking place June 12-14, Brent Venables and his staff are once again welcoming elite prospects, their families, current commitments and former Sooners to Norman in hopes of building momentum before the NCAA dead period arrives on June 22nd.
For Oklahoma, ChampU BBQ isn’t simply a recruiting party.
It’s a carefully designed closing mechanism.
