It has been 99 days since the Thunder last played a basketball game. The good news is that wait is coming to an end. We are only 50 days away from watching Oklahoma City back in action against the 76ers on October 26th. The game will take place in Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center. It is set for an 8PM ET tip off and will be broadcasted on ESPN.
On March 23rd, 2012 the Thunder beat the Timberwolves in a double OT game 149-140. In that game, Russell Westbrook played a career high 50 minutes. He put together a monster performance with 45 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds. The “Brodie” shot pretty well with 17-28 from the field and 9-9 from the free throw line.
I think it’s safe to say that Westbrook is physically capable of playing as many minutes as needed on a nightly basis. However, it’s unlikely that he will need to play 50 minutes very often. I do expect to see him play 35-36 minutes per game this season. It should go without saying that Russ will be key factor in the success of the Thunder this season.
