OKC Thunder | The 10 Home Games I Can’t Wait to Attend

Now, as the Thunder begins their 14th season, I am finally a season-ticket holder. The Thunder hasn’t had fans in the building since March of 2019, and I for one could not be more excited. Yes, it’s almost guaranteed to be another tank season, and I’m more likely to be in the building for a loss than a win, but I’m still pumped. The NBA announced the full schedule for the 2021-22 season Friday afternoon, so without further ado, here are the 10 games that I’m looking forward to attending the most (in chronological order):

OKC Thunder | Josh Giddey is a Sneaky Good Pick by Sam Presti

Oklahoma City Thunder General Manager shocked a lot of people on Thursday night. With the 6th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Presti selected Josh Giddey, an 18-year-old Australian who played 28 games with the National Basketball League’s Adelaide 36ers earlier this year.

Thunder Against The Spread | Prepare For Deja Vu Against The Wizards

This line was a bit crazy the last time out because news broke late that Lu Dort wasn’t playing and it pushed the spread up. However, we were able to lock the Wizards at 10.5 early on and held on for the cover. I know that Dort should make more than a one-point difference but OKC is only covering the spread 32% of the time as a home underdog and the Wizards are covering 57% of the time on the road. I’ll take Washington by at least 10 points here.

OKC Thunder | Game #60 Preview: Wizards

It’s been just 5 days since the Oklahoma City Thunder fell to the Washington Wizards 119-107 on the road, and now the Thunder hosts the Wizards in OKC. Not much has changed in the few days in between: the Thunder lost another game—a 122-116 loss to the Pacers—while the Wizards knocked off the the Golden State Warriors 118-114.

Thunder Against The Spread | Things Could Get Out Of Control With The Wizards

I think this is a night where Russell Westbrook can get whatever he wants from the Thunder. The former OKC All-Star is averaging a triple-double, as he usually does, with 21.9 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 10.8 assists per game. Friday night he went off for 36 points and 15 rebounds in Washington’s overtime win over New Orleans. That said, I think Bradley Beal poses the biggest threat to Oklahoma City. His 31 points per game are enough to just barely edge out Steph Curry as the NBA’s leading scorer and with Dort riding the pine tonight I’m not really sure how the Thunder can counter him. Beal is averaging 33 points per game over the last four and just dropped 37 on Detroit Saturday.

OKC Thunder | Game #58 Preview: Wizards

Tonight, the Thunder takes on Russell Westbrook, Bradley Beal and the Washington Wizards on the road. The Wizards are on a 4-game win streak and are heavy favorites, which should come as no surprise. OKC continues to sit players due to an array of injuries, and a result, they continue to struggle with one of the worst offenses (statistically speaking) in a very long time.

Thunder Forces Game 7 with Dramatic Win Over Rockets

The Oklahoma City Thunder rose to the occasion in Game 6 against the Houston Rockets, and after taking a 2-point lead into the fourth quarter, the Thunder trailed the Rockets 98-92 with just 4:19 left in the game. It was all OKC the rest of the way, though, as back-to-back threes from Chris Paul helped spark a 12-2 Thunder run to finish out the game, giving OKC the 104-100 victory.

OKC Thunder | Round 1, Game 6 Preview: Houston Rockets

The Oklahoma City Thunder dug themselves a hole in the third quarter of Game 5 against the Houston Rockets, and once Dennis Schröder was ejected alongside Houston’s P.J. Tucker, there was no way they were going to dig themselves out. Now OKC is facing elimination in Game 6.

OKC Thunder | Round 1, Game 5 Preview: Houston Rockets

A lot has happened since Wednesday, the original date for Game 5 of the First Round matchup between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets. The NBA teams still remaining in the Bubble opted to sit out of their scheduled games in response to Jacob Blake being shot in the back seven times by a police officer in Wisconsin.

OKC Thunder | Round 1, Game 5 Preview: Houston Rockets

Russell Westbrook remains sidelined for Game 5 with an injured right quad, and with the series all tied up, this could very well be the most important game played so far. According to NBA Playoff history, when a series is tied at 2-2, the winner of Game 5 goes on to win the series 82.2% (171 of 208 series) of the time. The numbers are a little closer if you look at the last 2 seasons, with the Game 5 winner of a series tied at 2-2 going on to win the series 7 of 10 times.
