During the 2014-2015 season, Russell Westbrook scored 36 points to give the Thunder a much-needed win against the Portland Trail Blazers. Oklahoma City had to have a win to keep their playoff hopes alive. Westbrook, who almost missed the game because of suspension from technical fouls, provided a clutch performance, producing 11 assist to go with his 36 points.

Despite Westbrook’s heroics, The Thunder would end up missing the playoffs that season. Kevin Durant being out almost the entire year with injuries was the key contributing factor in OKC not advancing to the playoffs.

This considered, what would make the upcoming season without Durant any better? Russell Westbrook is now one of the leagues top players, and more prepared to lead a team on his own. Guys like Steven Adams and Andre Roberson have stepped up huge since that season as well. Adding Victor Oladipo to the team is another important factor that could end up paying big dividends. He’ll give Oklahoma City some valuable offensive production, as well as great perimeter defense.
