Oklahoma remained undefeated in the month of March, extending their winning streak to nine games, with a doubleheader sweep of Omaha to open up the OU Tournament on Friday.
Sydney Romero and Fale Aviu knocked in 2 RBI each and scored a combined three runs to lead the Sooners offensive charge in a 9-1 run-rule win. Paige Parker improved her season record to 7-3 by striking out six and limiting Omaha to one run, off two hits, in five innings of work.
After struggling to get their offense started in the first game, Oklahoma scored eight runs in the first three innings of the second game on their way to back-to-back run-rule victories. Nicole Pendley helped the Sooners to a 6-run third inning with a 2 RBI home run to right field.
OU kept Omaha off the board in their 8-0 game two victory with strong pitching performances from Mariah Lopez and Nicole Mendes. Lopez remained undefeated and picked up her sixth win of the season by striking out seven batters through the first four innings. Mendes capped the second run-rule victory by pitching a perfect fifth inning.
The Sooners are back in action on Saturday afternoon with a 4:00 start against Illinois-Chicago.
