For the first time in a long time Oklahoma will enter the 2019 softball season with a bunch of question marks. Gone are the aces in the circle, gone is the team captain, and shortstop, gone is one of the most reliable catchers in the nation. What remains is a drive to continue dominating the Big 12 and making regular appearances in Oklahoma City in late May, and those chances are far from gone.

Women’s College World Series Preview | #4 Oklahoma vs. #5 Washington

The first team to get a crack at the back-to-back defending national champs will be the Washington Huskies. The Sooners and U-Dub are set for a 1:30 first pitch (ESPN) with the winner facing the Oregon/Arizona State winner.

Oklahoma Opens Super Regional With 7-2 Victory Over Arkansas

One adjustment was all it took. Just one minor change put the Sooners a win away from returning to the Women’s College World Series. They just needed a little patience in the batter’s box. 

Sydney Romero led off by striking out on a high fastball and then Jocelyn Alo popped out right after that. It appeared that Arkansas freshman pitcher Mary Haff was going to frustrate Oklahoma in her Super Regional debut. Alo noticed something though and stopped to whisper in Shay Knighten’s ear before retreating to the dugout.

Oklahoma Advances To Super Regional With 7-0 Win Over Missouri

The Oklahoma Sooners are advancing to a Softball NCAA Super Regional for the ninth consecutive year after breezing through the competition in the Norman Regional field. OU defeated Boston University (9-0), Tulsa (8-0), and then Missouri (7-0) on Sunday afternoon.

You would imagine a team that has won back-to-back national championships would be well-rounded. Oklahoma proved that Saturday afternoon in their regional win over Tulsa to advance to Sunday’s championship.
