The NBA released the schedule for the 2017-2018 season a couple weeks ago. The Thunder have some notable games including the season opener against the New York Knicks, and the Houston Rockets on Christmas Day.
The Thunder will be playing the Phoenix Suns for the 40th game of the season on January 7th. The game will be in Phoenix, and it’s set for a 7PM tip-off.
Oklahoma City played Phoenix three times last season. Unfortunately, the Suns got the better of the Thunder. The Thunder won the first matchup in double-digits by a score of 114-101. Russell Westbrook set a career high 22 assists during this game. He also recorded a triple-double.
The Suns ended up winning the final two matchups of the year. The second game was a much closer one where the Suns pulled out the win by 7. However, the next matchup was all Phoenix. They would end up winning 120-99. The starting five for the Thunder showed up to play, but got no help from the supporting cast.
Considering the Thunder have a much improved roster for the upcoming season, these type of series are ones the team shouldn’t be struggling with in 2017-2018. Having a second guy to rely on will take the load off of a few guys during back-to-backs and long road trips. In just 40 days, we get to see the new and improved OKC Thunder.
