Sunday’s hope turned into new life for Oklahoma’s basketball team as the Sooners were announced as the tenth seed in the Midwest Bracket. OU will be heading to Pittsburgh to face Rhode Island in the opening round of the tournament.

To say that Oklahoma limped to the end of the season would possibly be the biggest understatement of the entire basketball season but Rhode Island didn’t necessarily finish strong either.

The 7th seeded Rams closed out the year ranked in the Top 25 but finished .500 over their final eight games.

Oklahoma and Rhode Island will go head to head on Thursday for the right to play Duke in the second round. Tip off is set for 11:15 AM and will be televised on CBS.

Thursday will mark the 26th appearance for Oklahoma over the last 35 years.
