Oklahoma Bounces Back With 4-0 Win Over Oregon State

The Oklahoma Sooners didn’t stay down long. A day after having their 30-game winning streak snapped by Oregon they bounced back to blank Oregon State 4-0.

The Sooners broke up a pitcher’s duel in the top of the sixth when Nicole Pendley scored on a Kelsey Arnold single up the middle, turning a scoreless game to a 1-0 OU lead. They boosted their lead in the seventh when Jocelyn Alo blasted her 20th home run of the season. Her two-run shot, to right field, also scored Sydney Romero.

Oklahoma scored their fourth run of the game when Caleigh Clifton came home on an error by Oregon State first baseman Hope Brandner. OU’s four runs on seven hits was a welcome relief after the Sooners were held scoreless, with just one hit, in Thursday’s loss.

Paige Parker pitched 4.1 innings, allowing just three hits and striking out four batters. Oklahoma’s offense got started after Paige Lowary took the circle. Lowary completed the shutout by striking out two and allowing just two hits, over the final 2.2 innings, to pick up her fourth win of the season.

Friday’s win was the 40th of the season for Oklahoma. The Sooners will finish up their trip to the Pacific Northwest with a second game against Oregon State on Saturday. First pitch from Corvallis is scheduled for 2:00 Central.
