Oklahoma scored twelve runs on twelve hits Friday night as they blanked Kansas State in their series opener. Jake Irvin pitched six shutout innings and Kyler Murray knocked in four runs, going yard in the sixth, as the Sooners routed the Wildcats 11-0.

Irving struck out ten batters to improve his season record to 6-1. It’s the second time in as many games that he’s fanned 10 batters and the seventh time in his career where he’s struck out ten or more batters.

The Sooners scored multiple runs in three different innings and single runs twice in their offensive explosion. Junior Steele Walker drove in three and was 2-for-3 from the plate with a triple, double and two sacrifice flies. His double, in the first inning, was the 200th hit of his career.

Murray’s four RBI tied a career-high for the two-sport start and his sixth inning home run was his seventh of the season.

The Sooners improved to 29-18 overall and 11-8 in the Big 12, while Kansas State fell to 18-27 and 3-16 in conference. The two will play the second game of their series on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 PM.
