As Mason Rudolph moved on to the next level, the Oklahoma State quarterback job opened up. With three candidates vying for the starting role, one has separated himself from the group. During Day 2 of the Big 12 Media Days, Mike Gundy stepped up to the podium and declared Taylor Cornelius as ‘our guy’ going into August.

Previously, Cornelius earned a scholarship after backing up the aforementioned Rudolph last season. Attempting a mere 24 career passes, the former walk-on completed 15 of those for 220 yards. Now it appears as though the fifth-year senior will assume an increased role within the offense.
It will be interesting to see how well Cornelius — or any of the quarterbacks for that matter — performs without the likes of James Washington and Marcelo Ateman anchoring the group of receivers. Which one of the talented wideouts will develop chemistry with Cornelius, leaving a mark on the 2018 season? Only time will tell.
Until then, the quarterback battle has been relegated to two incoming players fighting for the backup role.
I’m honestly shocked that he named a QB so soon.
