A week past the midway point of the season has Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray still drawing comparisons to his Heisman winning predecessor. On Monday Murray was named as the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week.
The honor follows 19-of-24 passing performance for 213 yards and four touchdowns. Murray also ran the ball nine times for 51 yards in Oklahoma’s 52-27 road victory over TCU.
It is the fourth time this season that Murray has been named the Offensive Player of the Week for the conference, which ties him with Baker Mayfield for the most weekly awards in a single season. With five games remaining on the season there’s more than a solid chance that he’ll break the record.
Murray wasn’t the only Sooner earning conference honors on Monday though. Redshirt freshman Kennedy Brooks went off for a career-high 168 yards and a touchdown, on 18 carries, in the win. He was named Newcomer of the Week.
