Russell Westbrook Earns Western Conference Player of the Week Honors

Zachary Low

Since the Oklahoma City Thunder won their third consecutive game, the first time since winning three in a row since before the All-Star Break, starting point guard Russell Westbrook has been announced as the Western Conference’s Player of the Week.

On top of leading the Thunder to a 3-0 week, Westbrook averaged 22 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 17 assists. The week included just the second ever 20-20-20 game, and his efforts helped the seal the deal on a third consecutive season of averaging a triple-double.

Ironically enough, the results of an anonymous poll of NBA players collected by the Athletic came out today, and Westbrook tied with Draymond Green as the league’s most overrated player. Regardless of what a small sampling of his peers think about him, Russell Westbrook has continued to shatter record books and prove that he is not just one of the best players of the modern era but of all time.
