The streak continues as Oklahoma took two games from the Iowa State Cyclones on Friday afternoon.
Oklahoma 8 – Iowa State 3
Shay Knighten homered twice and Jocelyn Alo and Lynnsie Elam each left the yard once to lead OU’s offense in the first game. From the pitching circle Giselle Juarez struck out ten ISU batters on her way to picking her 19th win of the year.
Knighten, Elam, and Alo all went yard in a six-run second inning for the Sooners. Alo’s homer, to right field, was a grand slam, accounting for four of the six runs.
After the Cyclones posted two runs in the bottom of the fourth Oklahoma quickly responded to get them back in the top of the fifth. Knighten sent a solo shot over the left field wall for her second homer of the day and Reagan Rogers scored off a Grace Lyons double to complete Oklahoma’s run total for the day.
Iowa State got a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh to close the gap to 8-3.
Oklahoma 9 – Iowa State 2
Mariah Lopez struck out seven batters in four innings of work, to improve her season record to 16-1, and Shannon Saile pitched three innings of no hit ball to secure Oklahoma’s 34 consecutive win and the series at Iowa State.
Jocelyn Alo and Lynnsie Elam blasted their second home runs of the day and the Sooners scored nine runs off nine hits to back up their pitchers.
Oklahoma scored four runs in the top of the second to take control of the game early, then Alo’s blast to center field put the Sooners up 5-0 in the third.
After the Cyclones got two back in the bottom of the third, Audrie LaValley scored in the top of the fourth. That was followed up by a three-run fifth, aided by a two-run homer from Elam that cleared center field to produce the final score of 9-2.
Oklahoma and Iowa State will play the finale of their series at noon (CT) on Saturday.
