More than an hour into the free agency frenzy on Sunday evening, ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news that backup center Nerlens Noel had agreed to a deal to return to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Noel was a fan-favorite in Oklahoma City last season where he averaged 4.9 points on 58.7% shooting from the floor, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in just 13.7 minutes per game in 77 appearances.
With the Thunder in a tough financial situation, Noel was not exactly expected to return in an Oklahoma City uniform after declining his player option less than a week ago. Locking him in as a backup to Steven Adams allows the Thunder to better prepare the roster for improvements ahead of next season.
The numbers on the agreement have not yet been released. More updates will follow as it is released.
