Just in case you weren’t aware that college baseball has a run-rule, here’s your early season reminder. Oklahoma needed eight innings to dispatch Texas Southern 12-1 via said run-rule.
Oklahoma plated five runs in the bottom of the eighth, capped by a 2-run pinch-hit homer from Trent Brown to walk it off. It was the second big offensive day in a row for OU, following Tuesday’s 14-run/21-hit performance.
The Sooners recorded 13 hits on Wednesday from ten different batters. Tanner Tredaway and Tyler Hardman both recorded two hits each to lead the team.
Jake Bennett struck out seven in four innings of work. He was responsible for Texas Southern’s lone run. Aaron Brooks pitched a no-hit fifth inning to record his first win of the season. Ledgend Smith, Jaret Godman, and Zack Matthews pitched the final three innings, allowing just one hit combined.
Up next for Oklahoma is a four-game home series against Illinois State that begins on Friday.
