After hosting the nation’s to quarterback prospect for the 2021 recruiting class, Oklahoma had another 5-star prospect on campus for a visit on Monday.
Garland, Texas (Lakeview Centennial) running back Camar Wheaton is the top prospect at his position for the 2021 class and the #2 overall prospect from the state of Texas. Boasting 27 total scholarship offers Wheaton (5-11/190) seems to be warm on LSU and Texas as well as Oklahoma.
Dynamic running back prospect with requisite body type. Adequate height with close to prototypical frame relative to projected position. Long-striding sprinter in the open field who can shorten steps to elude tacklers in the hole. Dangerous one-cut player with explosive straight-line acceleration. Flashes outstanding top-end speed verified on the track (10.67 100 as only a freshman). Slippery strong. Not afraid of contact. Shows encouraging balance upon contact. Serious home run-hitting ability. Displays encouraging patience to allow blocks to materialize. Gears down a bit when asked to change direction or string moves together. Sometimes runs high and presents a bigger target. Among the top offensive prospects in Texas for the 2021 class. Possesses early-round NFL Draft potential thanks to physical profile and legitimate track speed.247Sports Evaluation
The rise of Spencer Rattler this fall could pay huge dividends for Wheaton’s recruitment, especially considering the pending departures of Kennedy Brooks (Most likely) and Trey Sermon next fall.
In three seasons of high school ball Wheaton has run for 3,128 yards and 40 touchdowns. He made an unofficial visit to LSU on February 1st, and then was at the Texas Junior Day on the 16th before making his way to Oklahoma on March 9th.
