New Oklahoma football commit Mario Williams has several aspects to his game. The 5-10/165 (5-star) receiver from Plant City, Florida has recorded 2,448 receiving yards and 33 touchdowns with a skill set that includes strength, crisp routes, strong hands and speed.
Williams can move laterally with the same quickness that he moves downfield. He’s got enough frame and strength to beat press coverage and is disciplined enough in his routes to create space and then take advantage of his speed, and that’s his greatest asset.
Some scouts label him as quick rather than fast (There really is a difference) but one thing is for certain, Williams doesn’t doesn’t get caught from behind.
That’s a high school version of Marquise “Hollywood” Brown that’s committed to come to Norman.
Williams is the second receiver in Oklahoma’s 2021 class, joining Cody Jackson (Richmond, TX). Friday’s addition of Mario Williams and 4-star linebacker Clayton Smith bumped the Sooners up to #3 in the Big 12 and #24 nationally in the 2021 recruiting rankings.
