Caleb Williams to Oklahoma was already one of the worst kept secrets in college football. The top quarterback in 2021 named the Sooners, LSU, and Maryland as his three finalists earlier in the month but even before that he was trending heavily towards OU.
Almost immediately after Williams listed his three finalists Garrett Nussmeier, the #8 quarterback in the class, announced his commencement to LSU. With the Tigers landing their quarterback for 2021 the field seemed to be trimmed to Oklahoma and the Terrapins. Now it looks like it may be down to just one school remaining.
Taulia Tagovailoa (Tua’s little brother) announced on Friday evening that he is transferring from Alabama to Maryland.
This leaves Oklahoma as the only school in Caleb Williams’ final three that doesn’t have a quarterback for the 2021 recruiting class. That means that the door is not only wide open for Williams to come to Norman but that he most likely has already made his choice to be a Sooner leaving Nussmeier and Tagovailoa as the dominoes that fell following his decision.
