Alabama Gaining Traction On Oklahoma Target Christian Leary

Oklahoma really wants Orlando, Florida (Edgewater High School) receiver Christian Leary. The 4-star recruit with speed for days had long been rumored to be a heavy Sooner lean due to his connection with top Sooner target Caleb Williams. Alas, recruiting is a fickle game in of itself and just because a guy is leaning it doesn’t mean mean other programs stop the sales pitches.

The 5-9/180 Leary is ranked as the #19 prospect from the state of Florida, and the #18 receiver prospect in the nation, by 247 Sports. Earning 43 total scholarship offers, he seems to have settled between Alabama, Auburn, Florida, or Oklahoma. Of that group the Crimson Tide seem to have risen up as the top challenge for the speedster.

On Monday evening 247Sports recruiting expert Andrew Ellis gave a crystal ball prediction for Leary going to Tuscaloosa. While that’s certainly not the news that Oklahoma fans want to see, it also won’t be the end of Leary to Norman rumors and thoughts as well because OUInsider Brandon Drumm has a crystal ball prediction of Leary playing for the Sooners. That splits the prediction at 50/50.

It should be noted that Ellis and Drumm both have a similar success rate in successful crystal ball predictions. Ellis is at 77.94% and Drumm is at 78.03%.

If you’re looking for a reason for Leary to potentially be fading with Oklahoma it could most likely be found in the rising interest in Emeka Egbuka with the Sooner program. Leary has set June 6th as his decision date with an announcement expected around 6:00 pm.
