Defensive recruiting for Oklahoma has taken off and the Sooners are still very much trending upwards. Four of Oklahoma’s seven commitments to this point are on the defensive side of the ball. That’s a trend we would expect to continue with number of high-profile defensive recruits keeping OU in the mix.
The latest such player is Jonesborough, Tennessee (David Crockett High School) 4-star linebacker Prince Kollie. Rated by 247Sports as the #16 outside linebacker prospect and the #6 overall player from the state of Tennessee, Kollie has earned 33 scholarship offers. On Thursday evening he narrowed those down to 10, via Twitter, with Oklahoma included.
The Sooners are competing with Notre Dame, LSU, Wake Forest, Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia, Louisville, and Texas for Kollie. Oklahoma made an offer to him just over a month ago on April 16th.
With a 6-1/200 frame, Kollie plays on both sides of the ball but is being recruited heavily as an outside linebacker on the collegiate level. He’s a bit smaller than Kenneth Murray was when he arrived on campus (6-3/225) but his strength and athleticism will draw comparisons.
Oklahoma has one outside linebacker commitment for 2021 in 3-star Winter Garden, Florida (Foundation Academy) prospect Danny Stutsman.
