Defensive help is definitely on the way to Norman. With the Sooners signing 10 defenders in the 2020 recruiting cycle, including the top two JUCO defensive tackles, the 2021 class is building to bring even more reinforcements. Four of Oklahoma’s seven 2021 commitments are on the defensive side of the ball and based on the recent trends that number will continue to rise.
Defensive back has been the priority for Alex Grinch this cycle and the possibilities seem to be growing each day as multiple defensive backs have tagged the Sooners as a finalist for their college decision. The most recent to do so is Reisterstown, Maryland (Franklin High School) 3-star safety Daymon David.
Responsible for 67 tackles and 4 interceptions in 2019, David is ranked as #19 overall prospect from the state of Maryland and the #47 safety prospect for the 2021 recruiting cycle.
The 6-1/172 prospect narrowed his choices down to Miami (FL), Indiana, Michigan, Louisville, Boston College, and Oklahoma from the 20 total scholarship offers that he has received. The Sooners made their offer last month.
