While we were recording a segment last week about 4-star receiver Christian Leary trending towards Alabama we were hit with some breaking news about the Edgewater, Florida star.
Leary and Egbuka are two of Oklahoma’s top targets are receiver but here’s our discussion on why it is unlikely the Sooners can land both of them and what that could mean for the 2021 recruiting class.
Leary, who has long been connected with top Oklahoma target Caleb Williams, caused a little concern last week when 247Sports recruiting expert Andrew Ellis gave a crystal ball prediction of Leary going to Alabama. At that same time Egbuka, the nation’s top receiver prospect, was starting to trend positively towards the Sooners after being thought to be a lock for Ohio State.
Since then Leary has moved back to being a heavy lean for the Sooners and Egbuka for Buckeyes. Things seemed to have settled back exactly where it was for the two receivers but the ebb and flow of the situation lends heavily to the belief that it won’t be possible for Oklahoma to land both.
Leary has set June 6th as his decision date with an announcement expected around 6:00 pm.
