If you feel like you can’t hold on much longer without Thunder basketball (or sports in general), just hang on for about a week and a half. The Oklahoma City Thunder will be back in action in just 10 more days!
On August 1st, the Thunder will play their first of eight games at the “NBA Bubble” in Orlando. It’s very fitting that OKC will matchup with the Utah Jazz in their first game. The two teams were set to face off on March 11th, but the game was canceled just before tip-off the same night the entire sports world was shut down due to COVID-19.
The Thunder currently sit in the 5th spot in the Western Conference with a 40-24 record. With only eight more regular season games to work with, there isn’t much time to waste. OKC will need to get off to a quick start in order to improve their playoff seeding.
OKC is seemingly a lock to make the playoffs, but it would be nice to avoid the bottom seeds in order to dodge a tougher first round matchup. The Rockets have the exact same record as the Thunder, and the Mavericks are only 1.5 games behind. With such little time for each team to prepare for the playoffs, these eight games will be some of the most competitive basketball we have seen.
We look forward to counting down the remaining days until Thunder basketball is back once again. And of course, we will have you covered on game previews and post-game recaps once the season resumes.
