It’s that time again! Football reels and highlights are going to start popping up all over social media, allowing college fans to see the future stars of their program shine bright on the prep level. One such highlight comes from a weekend scrimmage where Oklahoma receiver commitment Zion Ragins (Gray, Georgia – Jones County High School) returns the opening kickoff 97 yards for a score. In doing so, he flashes the field vision and speed that made OU receivers coach Emmitt Jones extend an offer.
Because Ragins makes this score look so easy, it’s important to note that it takes place against Buford, which is a factor for Power 5 college programs. Quarterback Dylan Raiola is the top overall prospect in the 2024 class. He’s joined on the Buford roster by K.J. Bolden and Eddrick Houston as five-star prospects in the Class of 2024. Jadon Perlotte and Devin Williams are both top 100 players in the Class of 2025. The Wolves have six other players rated as a three-star recruits or higher headlined by Tyshun White, Brayden Jacobs and Mantrez Walker. They also have 2022 MaxPreps Freshman All-American defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright. So, while Ragins made the play look easy, the team he did it against was far from being a pushover.
Ragins is ranked by 247Sports as the #28 overall player from Georgia, and the #31 receiver prospect in the 2024 class. He committed to Oklahoma last month over 29 other scholarship offers, including Florida State, Georgia, Auburn, and Notre Dame among others. Oklahoma’s 2024 recruiting class currently ranks #16 nationally.
