Your Call | Which Sooner Made The Best Play vs. Texas?

When I first started this post I was thinking that it would be a pretty easy call. Possibly even the easiest one we’ve done to this point of the season. Then I started looking through the plays and now I’m not so sure. There were so many things that Oklahoma did well in this game, and so many crucial plays made by individuals, and the team, that even nearly a full day afterwards it’s nearly impossible for me to select just one. I’m curious to find out where you guys stand on this.

Gentry Williams Interception

Gentry Williams and the Sooners let Texas know on their opening possession that this wasn’t going to be like last year. The Sooners had a lot of pent up anger and aggression that they were waiting to let out and Williams provided the perfect opportunity right out of the gate by jumping the route and snagging the first of two interceptions thrown by Quinn Ewers on the day.

Billy Bowman Blasts Ja’Tavion Sanders

As a freshman, Billy Bowman became the victim of a meme after getting stiff-armed to the ground by Texas running back Bijan Robinson. Older, wise, and a lot more stronger now, Bowman changed his fortunes in the Red River Rivalry by delivering a hit on Longhorn tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders that sent the ball into the air. Not only did the play result in a second interception for Ewers, it also thwarted a potential scoring opportunity for Texas.

The Goal Line Stand

Okay, this wasn’t one play from one individual player. It was a team effort, and it’s impossible to leave any of the four downs out. So, we’re making an exception and putting the entire defense up for this one. It was not just a game-changing moment, it was a moment where the Sooners established physical superiority. The Longhorns even put in defensive tackles as fullbacks and it yielded absolutely nothing for them.

Dillon Gabriel To Nic Anderson

I realize that we’ve only included one offensive play in this lineup, but the reality is, there wasn’t a more impactful offensive play than this one. Yeah, we probably slighted someone here, but I’ll live with it.

Honorable Mention

Peyton Bown Puts Quinn Ewers On Blast

How good is Peyton Bowen going to be? Well…perhaps we should ask Quinn Ewers. This hit resulted in the third turnover of the day for the Texas quarterback, and continued the theme of physical superiority.

Alright, make sure to vote on the poll in the middle of this post and sound off in comments section on what play, or plays, we may have missed by using the comments section below.

    1. I think it’s the goal line stand as well but I’m not sure that it’s “obvious”. That final touchdown was pretty spectacular.
