The Thunder is 1-0 against the Magic so far this season (1-0 at home, 0-0 on the road).
Why the Thunder Will Cover (-3)
At first glance, Orlando looks like a super hot team right now, winning 5 of their last 6 outings. When you take a closer look, however, you realize only two of those wins are against teams currently in a playoff slot—the Timberwolves and the Bulls. OKC, on the other hand, hasn’t exactly played their best basketball recently, but they’ve definitely played a tougher schedule as of late. I think that’s going to make the difference in what should be a tough road test headed into the All-Star Break, so I’m giving the Thunder the edge and the cover, but I do expect it to come down to the last few minutes of the game.
Why the Game Will Hit the Over (223.5)
The Thunder and the Magic are both young and talented teams, but the way that they have achieved their success has come in different ways. OKC is far more dangerous on the offensive end, while the Magic have relied heavily on their defensive grit. The Thunder’s defense has been outstanding at times, so they will likely be able to contain Orlando’s offense, but I have a hard time believing this one will go under the point total just because of how dangerous OKC is from all over the floor.
