Why the Thunder Will Cover (-9.5)
OKC is the hottest team in the league right now with 12 straight wins, and the Clippers haven’t been playing too badly themselves. LA has won 5 of their last 7, but when they lose, they lose big. In their last 8 losses, they have lost by double digits 7 times with 5 of those taking place in their last 10 outings. The Thunder should win, and because of how each team has been playing—as well as LA’s trend to not just lose but lose big—I’m taking OKC to cover the spread.
Why the Game Will NOT Hit the Over (217.5)
When the Clippers lose, they don’t just lose big because their opponent scores a lot of points: they struggle to score points themselves. LA averages 108.8 points per game—23rd in the league—but they manage just 101.2 in losses. OKC is much more consistent, averaging 115.3 points for the season and 115.4 in just losses. This line for the point total is pretty close to where I anticipate the final scoring being, but because of the defensive capabilities of the Thunder, I’m taking the under.
