OKC and LA are tied in the Western Conference standings right now, along with the Mavericks and the Pelicans. Because of tiebreakers, however, the Lakers are in 9th place while the Thunder is in 11th. With just 9 games left in the season, literally every game is going to change up who is in a playoff spot and who isn’t. While both teams really need to win, the Thunder REALLY needs to win this one. OKC has not been in a “must-win” situation for years, but this meeting probably qualifies. With that in mind, I’m taking OKC to at least cover if not outright win the game as well.

Thunder Against the Spread | No Paul George Means OKC Should Cover Against Clips Again
It’s been just two days, so not a lot has changed in this matchup except for the fact that Paul George is out of this one with a sprained knee. That’s a big blow for the Clippers on both sides of the ball. Still, it’s tough to beat a good team over and over again, particularly twice in a couple of days. A good coach like Ty Lue is extremely capable of making adjustments, and that could very well be enough to win this game. Still, I think OKC can pull out another win tonight, so I’m taking them to cover the spread.

It’s been less than 48 hours, but once again, the Oklahoma City Thunder is prepared to take on the Clippers in Los Angeles. On Tuesday night, the Thunder got off to a horribly slow start, trailing 18-4 just a few minutes into the first quarter, but OKC managed to turn thing around quickly to take a small lead into the second period.

Similar to the OKC, the Clippers had a rough return to play after the All-Star Break. Also similar to OKC, they are clicking at just the right time, as they have won 5 of their last 6. On paper, LA is the better team because of star power, but the Thunder plays hard enough to compete with any team on any given night. I don’t know if OKC can pull out a win on the road tonight, but I do think they keep it close enough to cover the spread.

The Thunder kicks off a 4-game West Coast road trip on Tuesday night as they take on the Los Angeles Clippers for the first of two meetings that will take place over the course of the next three days. The Clippers are currently 5th in the Western Conference standings with a 38-34 record, and OKC isn’t too far behind at 9th with a 35-36 record. With just 11 games remaining, the Thunder still has plenty of time to move up, but they also don’t have much room for losing.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander played on Tuesday, and Paul George and Kawhi Leonard sat out for LA, and it made a big difference. PG13 might play tonight, but Kawhi is still listed as out, so expect another close matchup. Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue is good at making adjustments, and LA has plenty of talent, so another Thunder win would be surprising. Still, this one will likely come down to the wire.

The Oklahoma City Thunder had no real issues handling the visiting Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday, and tonight, the two teams meet again at the Paycom Center. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander returned after missing a game due to hip contusion, and he played like he had not missed a beat. The Thunder is still without Josh Giddey and Jalen Williams, but the Clippers are still missing Kawhi Leonard, and Paul George is listed as questionable due to an illness.

It’s hard to pick against the Thunder when it comes to the spread, even with key players out due to injury. I’d feel a lot more comfortable if the line was OKC (+10.5), but I’m believing in the home crowd to keep the good guys in this one until the end.

Tonight the Thunder hosts the Los Angeles Clippers, who are 2-1 after dropping 112-95 decision to the Phoenix Suns on Sunday. The Clippers are missing Paul George due to an illness, but Kawhi Leonard is back playing basketball after missing all of last season with a torn ACL. Leonard has come off the bench for each game so far as the Clippers are managing his minutes until he’s back to full form, but he may start tonight with Paul George out.

I don’t think the Thunder wants to be anywhere near winning a game, but I absolutely think they’ll end up keeping this one to single digits anyway. The Clippers are resting Paul George, Reggie Jackson, and Norman Powell, so I don’t really expect a blowout to cap off the regular season. Picking OKC to cover seems like a safe bet.
