Sam Presti Says Billy Donovan Will Be Oklahoma City’s Head Coach Next Season

While Oklahoma City fans are waiting for the dominoes to start falling during the off-season, Sam Presti made it clear on Wednesday that head coach Billy Donovan will not be one of them. When asked directly whether Donovan would return to the Thunder bench next season, Presti responded with a direct, “yes”.

After landing Paul George and Carmelo Anthony last summer, the Thunder failed to make it out of first round of the playoffs for the second year in a row. While Presti admitted that the season was, in fact, a disappointment he’s committed to the coach.

Heading into the off-season Oklahoma City had the possibility of three major moves. With Donovan locked up for next season, that leaves Paul George and Carmelo Anthony as the remaining two big question marks.

“I think the best thing for him (Donovan), and I think the biggest opportunity for him, is in the continuity,” Presti said on Wednesday. “Additionally, just continuity in general, with the type of team we have assembled and the way it was assembled, generally, continuity is his best friend going forward.”
