As the 2018 college football season heads into the final two weekends of the regular season, there are only four teams remaining with a shot at the title. Iowa State, Oklahoma, Texas, & West Virginia are all in contention and all pretty much control their own destiny. If each team wins out then they’ll be in Arlington, but they also stand in each other’s way. Texas will host Iowa State this weekend and Oklahoma will visit West Virginia the day after Thanksgiving. It’s going to be a fun finish!

1. Oklahoma | Providing the status quo, the Sooners remain at the top of the power rankings despite a handful of struggles on the defensive side of the ball. Absorbing much of the concern, the young but productive running backs continue to impress. Fielding an efficient offense continues to win games and I don’t see that stopping in conference play.

2. West Virginia | Securing a third consecutive win, the Mountaineers look like a team finding their rhythm once again. Led by possibly the best NFL prospect in the league, there’s a legitimate case for the top spot here. However, a loss later in the year keeps them just on the heels of the top dog.

3. Iowa State | Gaining bowl eligibility after a shaky start to the season, the Cyclones are not a team I’d want to face at the moment. Holding an outside shot at the Big 12 Championship game, it’s hard to write this team out of the conversation at the moment. They’ll need a bit of help to overcome to the two programs ahead of them in the rankings this week.

4. Texas

5. Texas Tech

6. Baylor

7. Oklahoma State

8. Kansas State

9. TCU – Talk about the biggest disappointment on the year. Finding a single win over the past five contests, this program appears to have given up on a successful year. With two weeks remaining in the year, I simply don’t see the situation improving after all the injuries sustained in conference play.

10. Kansas – After a bit of a surprising start to the season, the Jayhawks have now hit rock bottom. A premature firing of the coach as well as the start of basketball season gives the university some news and something to look forward to though.

1. Oklahoma | When it comes to Oklahoma, there’s no doubt they’ve got the best offense in the conference. The offense for the Sooners barely carried them past Oklahoma State last week. If this team wants to win a Big 12 Championship and have a shot at the playoffs, the defense has to step up. Oklahoma controls their own destiny, but with no defense this season will end in disappointment for the Sooners.

2. West Virginia | West Virginia has a clear path to the Big 12 Championship if they can win out. They’ll play an Oklahoma State team that is looking to become bowl eligible this weekend. The Mountaineers should take care of the Pokes, but it’s not going to be easy. After that, they’ll have to take on the Sooners in the final week of the regular season. Should they win both of those games, I’d say they take the conference championship.

3. Iowa State | The Cyclones can find themselves in the Big 12 Championship with a win over Texas this weekend and then finishing the season with a win over Kansas State. While they would most likely be out-matched by their opponent in the championship game, it would still be amazing to see Iowa State playing for a Big 12 Championship. It all starts with a tough game against the Longhorns this week.

4. Texas

5. Texas Tech

6. Baylor

7. Oklahoma State

8. TCU

9. Kansas State | The Wildcats can still become bowl eligible by winning their remaining games. However, it might take a miracle for that to happen. They’ll have to beat a dangerous Texas Tech team and then beat Iowa State to close the season. I’d say it’s a long shot, but it’s something to hope for if you’re a K-State fan, right?

10. Kansas | The Jayhawks have miraculously found their way back to the bottom of the conference. They’ll have a chance to cause chaos by playing on the road against Oklahoma this weekend. In all honesty, a win against the Sooners would be the highlight of the season for Kansas. However, that’s not happening.

Zack
1. Oklahoma | The Sooners escaped Bedlam with a win, and that’s enough to keep them at the top of the Big 12 for now. They have an easy weekend ahead hosting Kansas before they have to travel to Morgantown to play West Virginia.

2. West Virginia | The Mountaineers travel to Stillwater to play a streaky Oklahoma State team who just barely lost to Oklahoma in Norman last weekend. West Virginia is still in contention for a College Football Playoff bid, and they need to take care of business this weekend to keep that alive.

3. Iowa State | The Cyclones keep winning, and they have a shot to make the Big 12 Championship game…if they win out. This weekend, they take on the Longhorns in Austin, which will be no easy task.

4. Texas

5. Texas Tech

6. Baylor

7. Oklahoma State

8. TCU

9. Kansas State | Well, the Wildcats beat Kansas, so at least there’s that. I’m still not sure how this team beat Oklahoma State.

10. Kansas | The Jayhawks head to Norman this weekend. It’s not going to be pretty. At least basketball has started.

Matt
1. Oklahoma | The defense cost them the Texas game and will most likely keep them out of the playoffs, but you can’t deny that this offense is the best in the county.

2. West Virginia | The Mountaineers have a shot at knocking the Sooners off the top rung of the Big 12 latter the day after Thanksgiving. Their offensive is crazy explosive and will look even more so against Oklahoma’s defense.

3. Iowa State | The Cyclones are exactly where they want to be. They control their own destiny in terms of reaching the Big 12 championship game.

4. Texas

5. Texas Tech

6. Baylor

7. TCU

8. Kansas State

9. Oklahoma State | I can’t get on board with ranking OSU higher than a Kansas State team they lost to. Especially when the two schools have equal conference records. The Cowboys are still a win shy of being bowl eligible and are hosting West Virginia on Saturday.

10. Kansas | Well, the Jayhawks got out of the cellar for a little while but it sure didn’t last long.
