The Kansas Jayhawks poked the hornet’s nest and then suffered the stinging results. A refusal to shake hands with Baker Mayfield at the coin toss. A clear cheap-shot hit in the second quarter and constant trash talking finally stirred Mayfield to release the inner beast. While much should be, and will be, said about Mayfield’s crude sideline gestures the reality is that the constant prodding by Kansas stoked the flames of the competitive fire that burns within the Heisman favorite.
