Millwood prospect Marcus Major is no longer Oklahoma’s only running back commit for the 2019 recruiting class. On Monday the Sooners picked up their second JUCO pledge in as many days as Rhamondre Stevenson made his commitment following an on-campus visit.
Stevenson ran for 2,111 yards on 222 carries (9.5 average), with 16 touchdowns, for Cerritos (Calif.) Community College this season. His performance was enough to garner offers from the likes of USC, Texas, and multiple other programs.
Marcelias Sutton is graduating and Rodney Anderson is heading towards the NFL, leaving the Sooners two backs short going into next season. At 6-1/230, with breakaway speed, Stevenson is an immediate plug-and-play recruit who won’t need to spend time developing in the weight room.
Following a rough season on running backs, in Norman, Stevenson gives Oklahoma another full stable of backs heading into 2019 that will feature him, Marcus Major, Trey Sermon, T.J. Pledger and Kennedy Brooks.
