On the same day that top 2021 quarterback prospect Caleb Williams named LSU, Maryland, and Oklahoma as his three finalists for his school of choice the Tigers may have made his decision a bit easier. Williams was already highly thought to be heading towards Oklahoma and it looks as if LSU believes that as well. The Tigers received a Monday afternoon commitment from 4-star Flower Mound, Texas quarterback Garrett Nussmeier.
Rated as the #7 pro-style quarterback for the 2021 recruiting cycle, Nussmeier’s commitment eliminates LSU as an option for Williams leaving Maryland as the only school standing in the way to land the top QB and #6 overall player for the recruiting cycle. I’m pretty confident (as should all of the Sooner Nation be) in Oklahoma’s odds in that head-to-head.
What is going to be fun to watch now is the aftermath of this commitment. 247Sports has already changed its crystal ball prediction to 100% for Williams to Oklahoma. Plant City, Florida receiver Mario Williams was already at a 100% crystal ball prediction and now so is Edgewater, Florida receiver Christian Leary. Those three have long been synonymous with one another for a while now, but we can expect more names to jump in there with them.
