Oklahoma has seen a surge of defensive recruiting as Alex Grinch is connecting with top athletes both regionally and nationally. Just days after Nathan Rawlins-Kibonge, a 4-star defensive end from Portland, Oregon, committed to the Sooners, the #12 prospect from the state of Virginia placed Oklahoma in his Top 5.
Damond Harmon is rated as a 3-star cornerback by 247Sports. The recruiting site has the Highland Springs, Virginia prospect ranked as the #29 corner in this class and #12 overall prospect from from his home state. He cut his choices down, from 21 scholarship offers, to Oklahoma, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, and Penn State.
He embodies the qualities that Grinch is looking for in a defensive back. He’s a good tackler, possesses speed and range, and is over 6-feet tall (6-1/178).
Choctaw, Oklahoma safety Jordan Mukes is the only defensive back commitment that the Sooners have so far for 2021. Grinch is still looking for his first pledge at corner.
