In Saturday’s early game of the Courtyard Marriott Tournament #18 Missouri was able to out up a fight against Oklahoma in a 5-2 loss. In fact, the Tigers even held a brief 1-0 lead going into the bottom of the second and were tied with the top-ranked Sooners until the bottom of the fourth. That wouldn’t be the case on Sunday though as Oklahoma literally dominated Missouri from the opening pitch.

Shannon Saile struck out the first two batters that she faced and then Oklahoma knocked two home runs in the bottom half of the fist inning and the 11-0 route was fully on.

Saile ended up pitching the full five innings, allowing no runs on just two hits, and striking out eight Tiger batters. She collected her fifth win of the season to no losses in the effort.

Offensively Oklahoma knocked five home runs with Tiare Jennings and Jayda Coleman blasting two each. Jennings went yard to lead off the bottom of the first and then Kinzie Hansen sent a 2-run shot over the wall at center field to give the Sooners a 3-0 lead after the first inning.

Coleman launched her first home run in the second inning. Her two-run shot in over right center field also scored Taylon Snow. Hansen brought in two more runs in the bottom of the second with a single down the third base line.

Coleman and Jennings both homered again in the third. Coleman’s was a 2-run shot over left center field and Jennings’ was a solo home run that left the park over right field.

Jocelyn Alo wrapped up Oklahoma’s scoring with a 2-RBI double to left field that plated Jennings and Rylie Boone. That hit came in the bottom of the fourth to make it an 11-0 game. A double-play and Saile’s eighth strikeout got Oklahoma out of the top of the fifth and completed the run-rule.

The win returned the Sooners back to their normal stride of shutout/run-rule wins. It was the third shutout of the tournament and the fifth in the last six games. Oklahoma has also now won three of its last five games by way of a run-rule.

The Sooners wrap up the Courtyard Marriott Tournament this evening. Their final game comes against Sam Houston around 5:30 (CT).
