Series History

The Thunder went 0-2 against the 76ers last season (0-1 at home, 0-1 on the road).

Why the Thunder Will Cover (+4.5)

OKC has been a great cover at home so far this season. New Year’s Eve is a tradition for Thunder basketball, and as such, I expect the crowd to be excited and energetic for this one. Also, the Thunder has performed particularly well when they have been an underdog in the +3 to +6 range, going 10-2 in such games this year. Add all of that together with the fact that Philly is just 6-9 at covering on the road and 3-4 when they’re the road favorite, and I’m thinking Shai Gilgeous-Alexander might have another career night to fuel OKC to a NYE victory.

Staff Picks

Why the Game Will Hit the Over (228.5)

The 76ers are not exactly the highest-scoring offense in the league, scoring only 111.8 points per game, and they have one of the best scoring defenses this season, giving up just 108.5 points per game. Since James Harden’s return from injury earlier this month, however, the 76ers have averaged 119.1 points per game while giving up 112.6 points per game. With Harden in the lineup, it just makes sense that the offense will score more, and the defense will give up more. Put that up against OKC’s high-scoring offense, and all of a sudden, you’ve got a game with a lot of points. The over on the point total just makes sense here.
