With seemingly no major incentive to do so, the Oklahoma City Thunder is playing a crazy good brand of basketball right now. OKC locked up the top spot in the Western Conference several games ago, but they have yet to back off their tenacious style of play, and as a result, the Thunder looks dang near unstoppable.
After handily defeating the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday night due to a 26-5 scoring run to finish the game, setting a Thunder franchise record of 61 regular season wins, the Thunder’s win streak sits at 8, the longest active streak in the NBA, and OKC has won 15 of their last 16. Now the Thunder plays host to the Indiana Pacers, who have been playing pretty solid basketball themselves lately.

At 43-30, the Pacers trail the New York Knicks by 3 games in the Eastern Conference standings, but they are a game-and-a-half ahead of the Detroit Pistons. They’re a solid 8 games ahead of the Atlanta Hawks, who are 7th in the East, which means the Pacers are comfortably in a spot to avoid the play-in round. Still, you can count on them to continue playing with a high level of urgency as they hope to cement their standing as a top-4 team in the East.
OKC will likely be without Alex Caruso and Jaylin Williams tonight. Both left Thursday night’s game early due to various injuries, and while they’re not that serious, the Thunder continues to take the route of not taking chances with injuries. As deep as OKC’s bench is, there’s no need to rush anyone back at this point. With only 9 games left, the Thunder’s focus should be playing a consistent brand of basketball that gets them prepared for a postseason run that hopefully Thunder fans will never forget.
